المستخلص

This paper aims at exploring the techniques and strategies employed in translating passive structure from English into Arabic at the United Nations, adopting a contrastive analysis technique. The study focuses on the passive structure. It sheds light on the techniques employed by the Language Services Department (LSD) at the United Nations (UN), examining if the drafting rules of Arabic in building the voice of the sentence are observed. The study employs a quantitative approach. Thus, the current paper aspires to highlight the techniques used at one of the best employers for translators as a step towards building syllabuses based on best practices in institutional translations for potential translators. The paper traced 9 techniques used in translating passive into Arabic. The paper concludes with recommendations for passive structure translation strategies and implications for translator training programs.
